Java in the War that become the overbloated technology

a little discussion with our shareholder of my company (my partner also), discuss about social business, and OpenSource that make nonsense for them. I believe Sun also got this problem because a NASDAQ listed company do all OpenSource.

The shareholder want the deviden, and the user want the solution that needed by them. but the Java community make a war that recycle several time, like from Struts become JSF, and now become RIA, we can find the foundation of development can changing very fast. The uncertain framework move from day to day, esp the Spring Policy make hot several time, but of me the apps still free and OpenSource, it is still fork ready.. but can we fork it and develop this high cool community? I like the balancing word from Rod, because like or not we must balance it.

I see that there is not as cool as Java in the market that doing this "too much or over bloated" innovation that for business user, that is still same value, so if we develop 3x a smiliar tech, that is wasting investment. But for hobbysit and social guy that think in the different level of investment, that is still OK.

from Tapestry to Wicket to JSF to Struts for business user, all of them are sam, to make web application.

Based on that perception i start to develop a workspace platform, user management, system management, module management and try to compete with the PHP market where they are this kind of tec, like SugarCRM , Magento, Drupal, which for me more business rather than technology. Congrat PHP guy, you are more cool in this segment.

but, in the reality, we can find several need for use and run app, we can see the popularity of JIRA, Wiki those are direct to use, but still not business user want.

but i love the way Oracle doing with ADF, a propietary tech on standard tech (JSF, JPA), with Oracle's brand, try to bring all the his client to his circle, and make money from it. and also the SOA of course. 2 tech that may be still make Oracle valueable in the front of his shareholder, but of course those are not OpenSource, they opensource several piece but we cannot build those opensource one. so for me ADF smiliar with .NET movement. But the investment that make ADF development full of wizard interested me, esp after i see there is Oracle community that hugh big esp in Europe. But of course this is pressure for me to get Europe market.

After try to think Rod's mind and problem from my perspective, and America in danger of economy crisis, we all must rethink the way we work and make a more fun and get money also of our movement.

Spring Policy make the most open and popular OpenSource project, must go to this direction because the responsibility to keep survive and release the Spring. we are moving to 2.0.8 anyway, and 2.5 still in our agenda. so why concern. Of course for people try to live with Spring, the market of Spring will be not as big as we want, but anyway i never give money to Spring.. sorry Spring team... i wish can contribute revenue to all of you... we need more marketshare to contribute revenue for all of your.. any idea after Spring Policy, how to make a more culting movement? so the community will become bigger or... the enterprise market will become bigger and make more revenue...because this is different way of branding, community branding and enterprise branding are different animals, and Rod are moving to that direction.. with Spring dm Server, those 2 will become a new way of movement in Java... good luck . wish can become another model of movement to sustainability.

With overbloated war that happen now, i believe that the real cool innovation can survive, and of course anyone will see a lof of them will gone and disappear soon, but all can become lesson learned.

I love Compiere, even Jorg is bad in community movement, but his enterprise model hopefully can make he is the right one to sustain, vs Adempiere that 100% bazaar movement, still for me make 2 movement in smiliar world. overbloated work, why dont we work together, why dont you hugh your community jorg...do you have another opinion that make you like this.

I feel that Sun also got this problem, Jonathan must prove to the shareholder about this, and with this resession and marketcap only 4 bullion, i believe Jonathan in the hard time, of course we can see opportunity with America resession which will be there and recovery will be longer, 10 years??? Glassfish will become popular, because it is cool, we use it here also. But any idea to make me contribute revenue to Sun team. again smiliar thing that happen after Spring..

We use Spring, Hibernate, Struts2, Glassfish/Tomcat and Eclipse. and we live in emerging country that need to get work together and make revenue for all of us. any idea?

sun offers to become reseller of Glassfish Enterprise, Spring as Spring Partner, Hibernate decline me (RedHat Singapore want to make Linux Training center here become Hibernate consultant.. argh.. bad... how can linux admin have to go to Java, when they are not interested with this.. and we have me, strange Java Champion and Oracle Ace Director still unsellable for them..)..and several unlisted name that i dont want to discuss because not related to this blog topic..
